THE STORY
RPGX Studios was officially founded as a company in 2018. However, our story starts much further back. In 1998 two teenagers: Ashton Rogers, and Craig R. Key, co-created a plot and completely unique system for a homebrew TTRPG that would attract the attention of several other local players over the course of its four-year campaign. From that game would spring several other homebrew projects and friendships that would last a lifetime. Even after high school, though the main group members would change, the spirit of what was created always lived on.

Several homebrew projects would be created, tested, and tucked into the group's collective vault. Eventually, Ashton would create a website to house these ideas and discussions called RPGX, based on the name of the unique generic TTRPG system that was originally created. This website was mainly a forum for the group, and other gamers around the world, to contribute and share ideas for projects. After a while, life, technology, and the rules about how games could be shared and copyrighted shifted, leaving the PRGX site no longer relevant. So, sadly, in 2006, the original website went away. As it often does, life moved on, and Ashton was forced to take a long break from gaming and developing. Over those years, he would host small one-shots periodically and occasionally design maps and campaigns as free time allowed, but only as a hobby. But game development was never too far from his mind.

In 2014, WotC released its fifth edition of their flagship RPG. Along with it, they released a new OGL. With new tools and ideas to play with, Ashton began working on new material. Additionally, with the rise in popularity of online virtual tabletops, Ashton began using his skills as a graphic artist and developer to create large battle maps to eventually offer through Patreon. As the interest in the content grew in the community, Ashton realized it was time to bring back RPGX. This time as a company with offerings of original content. Getting in touch with all the former members of RPGX, our team began working on reshaping our old discussions, ideas, and homebrew content into fresh, original games. Now rebranded as a game design studio, our main focus is to create new original content games, as well as supplemental content for existing IPs under OGL. Our core team is made up of the original group of friends who met ever so long ago as well as some new faces from more recent years. RPGX designs and produces games and content for all platforms, including tabletop board games, TTRPG, computer games and mods, collectible card gaming, and supplements for other companies' IPs as game licensing allows.
